Morrocan Hair Oil

                       

I like to dye my hair. So what? But in this overly expensive addiction I have destroyed my hair. What should be down to my ankles, my hair is always restricted to shoulders blade length due to pressure from my hairdresser to chop of the dead bits. Gggrrrr!!!

But when I arrived at her salon, falling at her feet with my hair in tatters (whilst travelling, it did not leave the safety of its bun, hiding from most certain critism).. she set to work her magic. But towards the end, when we arrived at the all important "whats the best shampoo/conditoner system for me?" chat.. she excitedly popped the Morroccan Oil in my hands.

Running 4 pumps of the amber liquid through my damp hair and then another 1 pump post blowdry (to add a glossy effect).. the difference was amazing! I most certainly did buy it (ssshh dont tell my boyfriend).. and have loved it every wash since.

A really worthy investment for dry, dull hair.. I was even given the tip that for when I want to re-buy it- strawberrynet have it for sale online for a whole lot cheaper. IM SOLD!

Oh my happy stars!

WOW. Ive been home for a week. WOW.

Im not sure if its the clean air, peoples smiling faces, chirping birds, open sky, easy living, family, excessive laughing and friends... but Im so happy to be home.

Dont get me wrong, as soon as I left London I missed it. The lovely girls I worked with and all that is the culture and dynamic of London... but its refreshing to be surrounded with comforts and clean living. Oh and plus- I got a job within 4 days at MAC Bourke St; Australia's biggest MAC! Starting tomorrow Im excited to get back in to the makeup.. 6 weeks away from it has me impatient and lonely without it!

I was sad to have missed the S/S 12 Shows whilst I was travelling through Western Europe, but hey.. thats how sad I am. Ha! So..give me some time to do my research and compile a lists of loves and lusts..

Being nosey I have seen a continuation of many previous trends, so expect to see your contrasting textures.. matte vs shiney, sleek vs rough, clean vs dirty, block colours vs shades.

I am still loving the use of colour through hair, and having gone a bit mad in London and covering my blonde dip-dye in hot pink and purple.. I have chosen to keep it alot cleaner and more nautral back in Oz by stripping my hair back to its natural colour of dark blonde ( fading it down into my existing very blonde dip-dye).. thrown in some highlights and then dipped the very ends in my hair with pastelly-lilac tips. The end result.. natural, flattering on my skin tone and Im feeling good (my fresh Spainish tan may have helped somewhat..hehe)!!!

Looking forward to posting alot more, now that Im back! But please excuse my inconsistency..
my poor little laptop died before leaving the UK and borrowing is my only option for now :(

Well! Its sunny, clear blue skies in Melbourne today and I have some smiling to do :)

MET BALL 2011

One of the biggest events on the fashion calender, the Met Ball in New York hosts the whos who of fashion and celebrity royalty. Each year a designer is partnered with a celebrity who not only is a massive fan of their work, it is someone the designer is inspired by.

As expected Anna Wintour, accompanied by her daughter Bee, is wearing Chanel couture. Karl Lagerfeld partnered his muse of the moment Blake Lively from Gossip girl, who like so many chose to wear a neutral shade.Other trends seen were a many a sequin, crystal and detail; metallics, block colours, silks and thigh high splits.

Makeup was varied, with a number of people choosing smokey eyes- to compliment the metallics and heavy details in their dress; bronze eyes and contours; and beautifully dewy, flawless skin. Lips were kept clean, with soft washes of oranges, reds and nudes were extremely popular! Except for the minority, most kept their makeup clean, simple and effective... Softly lined eyes and lots of mascara.

Hair was mostly keep carefree and down. Soft tousled waves were all that was needed.. Loved all the hair/head accessories!

MAKEUP I HEART



Not because this look blows me away, but because
the entire look makes a cool statement. Gennifer is
bang on trend and works it effortlessly. Her skin looks
amazing!



No reason in particular- I just think shes stunning.

Not a huge fan of the dress, but a MASSIVE
fan of the makeup. Mary Kate is a perfect example
on how to make a smokey eye sexy.. by grading it out.



No one can ever blame the girl for not taking risks,
and the Met Ball is the place to do it. The hair is great up top, until
the plait comes down to her bum. Ew. Love the makeup though!

Kenzo Fall 2011

Ahh.. everything I love in one show!

At Kenzo this season the hair and makeup were done in a way in which I am absolutely drawn to. Tom Pecheux for MAC really worked a commercial look that has strength and difference. A hard combination to find..

Away from the real 'All or Nothing' approach, Tom and hair stylist Eugene Souleiman managed to do a bit of both.. with barely there skin, a soft washed out smokey eye, a beauty berry stained lip and my favourtie a Freida inspired strong brow (minus the unibrow..); complimented perfectly by hair that has been pulled off the face by a quiff and pigtail plaits.

This effect allows two very different persepectives to the look.. a very boyish, strong one from the front, and a vbery soft and feminine one from the back.

J'Adore! Really lending to the androgonous theme thats been hanging around these past two seasons.

JEAN GENIE

A few months ago I worked with Hannah Newman, a London based stylist/fashion journalist.. Hannah's very own blog was shortlisted last year by Cosmo Mag for the 2010 Blog Awards. So it was very exciting when she paired up with photographer Alexander Jordan to create an amazing piece on her love for Denim.

I kept the makeup extremely clean and raw; a look very much coveted by the fashion scene. Hair was kept off the face and in a quirky way, again very raw and "unkept".

After alls completed, Hannah's end result is a really great read. See below!

Hair envy..

Cheeky choice choker...

At the recent Chanel Haute Couture show in the romantic flyaway hair was thanks to Sam McKnight. Perfect accompaniment to the beautiful makeup..

“The collection comprised of a palette of pale pinks and greys referencing the paintings of 1920s French artist, Marie Laurencin. With the colours being so pretty and feminine Karl wanted the hair to have a boyish silhouette, so I pulled hair into a side parting and pinned it back into a messy and unfinished fold. The style was strong in structure but still feminine in its dishevelled quality. Karl provided these exquisite ball pins which were clipped into the hair and for the finishing touch we tied chokers around the girls’ necks and pinned them up into the chignon.”
